Looking for breakfast bowl ideas that go beyond the same toppings every morning? Think browned banana slices, bright berries or eggs with avocado.
These pictures give you plenty to work with, whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or would rather skip the fruit.
You can keep it simple or pile on the toppings. There’s also a berry crumble shown in a baking dish rather than a bowl, with a serving suggestion below.
Pick the combinations you like and make them your own.
Sweet and savory breakfast inspiration
berries and golden crumble
We’re starting off with something a little different. This berry crumble is pictured in a baking dish, with strawberries and dark berries peeking through the golden oat topping.

For a breakfast bowl version, I’d spoon a portion beside plain yogurt. Keep some of that crumble on top rather than stirring everything together.
browned banana and walnuts
How good do those banana slices look? Their browned edges are my favorite part of this porridge bowl.
Chopped walnuts and a generous tan-colored dollop sit alongside them.
Try your favorite nut butter for that finishing spoonful if you want a similar combination.
eggs avocado and greens
If you love a savory breakfast, this one is for you. Halved eggs, avocado and browned orange vegetable cubes fill the bowl, with leafy greens tucked underneath.
I love the sliced green chilies on top. Keep them if you like a little heat, or leave them off your version.
purple bowl with fruit
This fruit bowl may just be one of my favorites here. I love the deep purple base with the bright strawberries and blueberries.
The banana slices lined up along the back are so pretty.
Arrange your fruit in little groups like this, then leave a section for granola.
berries and a golden drizzle
Don’t want to spend time lining up every topping? No problem!
This bowl has raspberries and blueberries piled over a pale, speckled base, with a golden-tan drizzle running across them.
For your own version, try yogurt with berries, peanut butter and a little ground cinnamon.
peach slices and cottage cheese
If you’re looking for something simple to put together, go with peach slices over cottage cheese. The large wedges cover one side of this bowl, with a glossy golden drizzle over the top.
A little honey would be a lovely finishing touch for your version.
apple slices and cinnamon
I am obsessed with this apple-topped bowl. The overlapping red-edged slices look so pretty against the grainy porridge, especially with that generous spoonful of spread on the side.
Try almond butter and ground cinnamon if you want to take your usual apple breakfast in this direction.
potatoes peppers and avocado
There’s so much to love in this savory bowl. Browned potato wedges sit beside a pale crumble, with red pepper strips, onion and avocado filling the front.
The little pile of greens in the middle is such a nice finishing touch. You could use a tofu scramble for your own version of this combination.
raspberries and chocolate chips
Who else would choose the chocolate chips first? This thick brown base has banana slices on one side and frosty raspberries across the back.
The white dollop makes the whole bowl look even prettier.
To borrow the idea, try chocolate porridge with a spoonful of yogurt and the same fruit toppings.
yellow swirls and coconut
If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. The bright yellow base has a big spoon swirl beside coconut pieces, little grains and dark round bites.
A mango smoothie base would be a fun way to recreate the color. The photo also includes a flower, but only use a flower garnish verified as edible and food-safe.
mushrooms and chopped herbs
Don’t want eggs in your savory bowl? Take a little inspiration from these browned mushroom slices over a pale yellow base. I love the chopped herbs and fine white shavings scattered across the middle.

You could try this combination over polenta, with grated cheese to finish.
simple avocado and rice
Don’t want to go all out with toppings? No problem there!
This bowl keeps things simple with rice and chunky pieces of avocado, plus dark seasoning flecks and a brown drizzle.
I’d add a squeeze of lime to my own bowl and leave it at that.
pear slices and pecans
This is another pretty way to bring fruit into breakfast. Pale pear wedges sit over a dark, grainy base, with chopped pecans and little golden-brown pieces scattered around them.

The small pools of white liquid are a lovely detail. Try a splash of your preferred milk over a pear-topped grain bowl.
strawberries down the middle
I love how simple this bowl looks. The strawberries sit right in the middle of the pale yellow porridge, with tiny seeds sprinkled over them.

You don’t need to cover every bit of the base with toppings. Leave the edges plain if you want this same neat little arrangement.
blueberries pecans and seeds
This orange bowl is so pretty! Blueberries run across the center, with pecans at the top and green pumpkin seeds along the lower edge.
There’s a tan-colored swirl through the base too.
For a similar color, you could build your version around mashed cooked sweet potato and add the toppings shown.
pink base and strawberry slices
How cute is this pink bowl? I love the curved row of banana slices beside the strawberries.
Granola and green seeds cover the top, with a generous golden-tan dollop over the fruit.
Try a strawberry smoothie base and your favorite nut butter to make your own version.
eggs salmon and toast
This is one of my favorite savory combinations on the list. The orange-centered eggs sit beside thin pink salmon slices, avocado and a white spoonful in the middle.
The toast leaning against the rim is worth keeping. Add a few sprigs of dill like the ones here to finish your bowl.
rice beans and an egg
If you want a bowl with plenty going on, this one is for you. Rice and dark beans sit under an egg with a broken golden yolk, while avocado slices fill one side.

I especially love the red onion and chopped green herbs on top. Serve your version with lime wedges like the ones beside this bowl.
golden bananas and chopped nuts
I know the banana bowl above is gorgeous, but this one is a close second. Mostly because those thick, browned banana rounds look so good beside the big swirl of tan spread.
Chopped nuts are scattered over the porridge and fruit. Keep that little finishing sprinkle if you’re borrowing this idea.
raspberries over fluffy grains
Last but definitely not least, we have bright raspberries scattered over a pale, fluffy grain mixture. I love the little green and orange pieces mixed through it.
For a bowl inspired by this picture, try breakfast couscous with chopped pistachios, dried apricots and raspberries on top.
