The best group shots almost always have a tiny bit of planning behind them. A pose, a location, maybe a prop. That’s really the whole secret!
This list came together after scrolling through hundreds of pins looking for setups that actually work in real life. No fancy equipment, no professional photographer required. Just ideas that look good whether you’re on a beach or standing in someone’s backyard.
Some of these are built for a big crowd, others work better for two people. A few are meant to be collected one day at a time. There’s something here for basically every occasion, honestly.

We start off strong with the classic jumping shot every single time. Everyone leaps together and somehow it always turns into chaos, haha! I count us down out loud so the timing lines up, mostly.
The blurry attempts are honestly the funniest part of the whole shoot. Someone always lands wrong and it makes the whole group crack up.

Matching outfits turn a regular group photo into something way more polished. Neutral tones photograph the cleanest.

Group Piggyback Ride Fun
Piggyback rides make a stiff group photo instantly playful. Somebody always ends up nearly falling over on my watch and that is usually the best frame, lol! This one works great for smaller groups who can pair up.
Balance is optional, laughter is not!
Overhead Circle Floor Pose
Lay everyone flat on the ground in a circle with heads pointed toward the middle. Shoot straight down from above and the whole thing looks like a flower. How cute is this?
A staircase, a balcony or even someone standing on a chair works for the angle. It photographs way better than it sounds. I promise!

Group Silhouette At Sunset
There is something about a row of silhouettes against an orange sky that never gets old to me. The group just lines up with the sun behind them. I let the colors do the rest, honestly.
Golden hour makes basically everyone look like a movie poster, am I right?
Friends Walking Away Together
This one captures the group from behind as they walk down a street or path. It feels candid even when I have staged the whole thing. That is honestly the whole appeal for me.
The farther the group walks, the more dramatic the shot looks. A long driveway or empty road works surprisingly well for this.

Are you guys seeing how good candid laughing shots turn out? Someone tells a joke, the camera clicks and I already know it is the favorite. I skip the countdown for this one entirely.
Nobody notices the camera until it is way too late, lol!
Squad Pyramid Pose Outdoors
A pyramid pose takes some coordination, but the payoff is worth it. My rule is strongest people on the bottom, smallest one climbs on top. It works great for a team photo or trusting friends, haha!
Grass beats pavement if anyone loses their footing. Trust me on that one!

Forehead Touch Golden Hour
Couple photo ideas don’t get much dreamier than a forehead touch at golden hour. The light wraps around both people and softens everything. I always tell them to close their eyes for a beat first.
It reads as intimate instead of posed, which is exactly the point. Same!

Piggyback Ride On Beach
A piggyback shot on the beach is basically a couple’s version of the group jump. Sand, waves and someone laughing because they almost got dropped. I always skip sandals for this one.
The salty air also does wonders for hair, lol!
Matching Umbrella Rainy Day
Rainy days get a bad reputation, but a matching umbrella shot proves them wrong every time. Puddles reflect everything, which adds an extra layer to the photo. I always grab the boldest umbrella color I own.
Black umbrellas have their own charm. They just blend in more.

Photo a day ideas usually start small. A coffee cup flatlay is about as small as it gets. My mug and table stay the same, only the light changes each morning. It sounds boring at first.
Thirty days later it is basically a diary written in coffee steam! Who knew a mug could hold that much?

A daily mirror selfie tracks way more than just outfits. Mine ends up capturing moods, seasons and a lot of laundry day emergencies, haha! I keep the same spot and roughly the same time each day.

Nightly Sunset Sky Shot
There is no bad time for a nightly sunset shot in my book. The sky does something slightly different every evening, so my collection never repeats itself. I use the same rooftop or even the same parking lot.
It is less about location and more about showing up at the right minute. A five minute window makes all the difference!

Black and white strips strip away distractions and focus straight on expressions. No busy backgrounds, no clashing colors, just faces. I save this one for portraits instead of goofy poses.

Hand drawn cat comics are everywhere online for good reason. A cat’s daily chaos basically writes itself. It might be knocking things off shelves or demanding food at 5 a.m.

Last but definitely not least, we have the daily life comic panel. Small moments like a bad commute or a burnt breakfast become genuinely funny once they’re drawn out. How relatable is that?
One panel a day builds into a full sketchbook faster than expected. No shame in drawing the same stick figure every single time, lol!
